Old miner
Directly across from the old lady and her pooch stands an elderly gentleman with his candle, cane and clock. Contrary to popular belief, this figure was not the "Lost Dutchman," but rather was added due to the perception that there just wasn't enough to see in this portion of the ride. Here we have another example wherein the mannequin was originally female and cleverly reconstructed to serve as a male. Dick Kraus hand made the miner's cane, the candle (which was lit) and the very interesting clock on the wall. Close examination reveals that the clock face numbers are jumbled entirely out of sequence. A mouse sits perched atop the pendulum counterweight of this odd timepiece, while below at the bottom rests a very large black widow spider. Behind the mannequin stands an antique chest of drawers with a lyre shaped mirror frame. On the wall we see two 1800s advertisement posters.
